This 1978 Ferrari 308 GTB was acquired by the selling dealer in 2023 from its long-term prior owner, and it is powered by a 2.9-liter quad-cam V8 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Finished in Marrone Dino Metallizzato over brown leather upholstery, the car is equipped with a limited-slip differential, 14″ five-spoke alloy wheels, pop-up headlights, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, air conditioning, a gated shifter, and electric windows. Work completed in January 2024 included replacing the timing belts, timing belt tensioner bearing, water pump, thermostat, drive belts, fuel filter, spark plugs, and spark plug wires. This 308 GTB shows 20k miles and is now offered in New York by the selling dealer with service documentation, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Colorado title.
The 308 GTB was introduced at the 1975 Paris Motor Show and featured Pininfarina-styled bodywork. The car is finished in Marrone Dino Metallizzato and is said to have been refinished. Exterior details include pop-up headlights, a driver-side mirror, a vented decklid, and quad exhaust outlets. The selling dealer notes cracking in the paint, and close-up photographs of the exterior finish and trim are shown in the gallery below.
Silver 14″ five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with Yokohama tires that have 2019 date codes. The car features a fully independent suspension with double wishbones front and rear, and stopping power is provided by ventilated discs at each corner. The brake fluid was changed in preparation for the sale.
The cockpit features bolstered seats trimmed in brown leather upholstery along with matching door panels and carpet. Equipment includes air conditioning, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, electric windows, a Ferrari-branded fire extinguisher, and a gated shifter with a dogleg gear pattern. The passenger window was repaired in January 2024.
The leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel fronts Veglia instrumentation including a 180-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,700-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, water temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 20k miles.
The mid-mounted 2.9L quad-cam V8 is equipped with four twin-choke Weber 40DCNF carburetors and was factory rated at 237 horsepower. Work completed in January 2024 included replacing the timing belts, timing belt tensioner bearing, thermostat, water pump, drive belts, fuel filter, spark plugs, and spark plug wires. Photos of compressiontest results are shown in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. An aftermarket exhaust system is said to have been fitted.
Manufacturer’s literature, service documentation, and a tool roll will accompany the sale.
