This 1995 BMW 850CSi is one of 225 examples built for the US market during a two-year production run, and it was purchased by the current owner in 2007. A replacement 5.6-liter S70B56 V12 block was installed in November 2024, and other work performed during the installation included replacing a head gasket and two drive belts as well as the starter motor, valve guides, main bolts, rod bolts, and clutch hydraulic cylinders. The black-over-black coupe is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, 17″ Style 21 “throwing star” wheels, a Supersprint Magnum exhaust, heated power-adjustable front seats, and a sport-tuned suspension. Following history in Ohio and Connecticut, this E31 is now offered on dealer consignment with recent service records, the removed factory engine block, and a clean Connecticut title.
The 850CSi featured revised front and rear valances as well as a lowered ride height compared to other E31 coupes. This example is finished in Jet Black and features pop-up headlights, a power-operated sunroof, and BMW Motorsport-branded door handles. The Carfax report notes that the car was involved in an accident with another motor vehicle in April 1995 before it was sold to its first owner the following month. The selling dealer notes evidence of paintwork on the rear bumper cover, trunk lid, and rear quarter panels, and blemishes are noted around the body. The windshield washer fluid pump was replaced in November 2024.
Forged-aluminum 17″ BMW Style 21 wheels wear directional “throwing star” covers and are mounted with Toyo tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs with ABS. The 850CSi features a sport-tuned suspension and revised steering ratios in comparison to other E31 models. The power steering pump was rebuilt, and front tie rods were replaced in November 2024.
The heated power-adjustable front seats have lumbar support and are trimmed in black leather complemented by wood trim. The interior is further appointed with an onboard computer, dual-zone automatic climate control, a CD stereo, driver-seat memory settings, and a power-adjustable steering column. The stereo display has missing pixels.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 190-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 81k miles, approximately 11k of which were added under current ownership.
A replacement 5.6-liter S70B56 V12 block was installed by Bimmers Only of Bedford Hills, New York, in November 2024. The installation process also included adjusting the valves and replacing the following parts:
One cylinder head gasket
Two drive belts
Valve guides
Fan clutch
Spark plugs
Starter motor
Main bearing bolts
Connecting rod bolts
Coolant temperature sensors
The removed factory engine block is included in the sale.
1995 BMW 850CSi 6-Speed
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A Supersprint Magnum exhaust system is installed. The clutch hydraulic cylinders were also replaced in November 2024, and corrosion is noted on underside components.
