I suspect that this is not a 1940. It looks to be a 1950 +4 Morgan, four seater flat rad. The upright grill (the flat rad) was changed for the more familiar and more modern Morgan grill in 1954.
Scruffy, rough, I wonder what barn it was pulled out of.
