The Volkswagen SP2 is a Brazil-only model, produced from 1972 to 1976. There were between 10,000-11,000 (depending on source) cars manufactured for the entire model run. While not all that rare, given that it was only made and sold in Brazil, they seldom come up for sale in the US. These cars have a rear mounted 1.7 liter four cylinder engine making 75 horsepower, which is surprising given that have the long hood look of a front-engined GT car.

This example is not only rare but has only 10,482km (6552 miles) on the odometer. This car is also the first of 100 SP2’s produced in 1976 which does make it rare and desirable. It is a two owner car, with the first owner flying to Brazil to import the car into the United States. This car has been repainted and has had some of the interior leather reupholstered. It also benefits from new fuel lines, rebuilt carburetors, a brake fluid flush, and a recent oil change. Pretty cool piece of Volkswagen history!
